How Our Learners Performed and Why It Matters

The Further Studies Programmes are designed for learners who are willing to engage deeply with their subjects and take on meaningful academic challenge. As an IEB-registered provider, Advantage Learn supports learners across South Africa and beyond in undertaking these advanced programmes, which are internationally benchmarked and aimed at preparing learners for the academic demands of university study.

The release of the Further Studies results 2025 offers an opportunity to reflect not only on performance, but on what sustained academic extension makes possible when learners are supported through structured teaching, high-quality resources, and consistent guidance

What Are Further Studies Programmes?

The IEB Further Studies Programmes, set by the Independent Examination Board, are advanced high-school subjects benchmarked at a level comparable to UK A-Levels.

They are designed to extend capable learners beyond the standard curriculum and to develop:

• Academic depth
• Independent learning skills
• Critical thinking
• Readiness for university-level study

Learners who complete Further Studies graduate with their National Senior Certificate and an additional Further Studies Certificate, recognised by universities locally and internationally.

Learners achieved distinctions across Further Studies programmes, including:

Expanding Access Through the Advantage Learn Foundation

A defining feature of the 2025 year was the continued expansion of access through the Advantage Learn Foundation.

• 56 learners were supported through the Foundation
• These learners were identified as high-potential, but would not ordinarily have access to Further Studies
• Support included access to teaching, resources, assessments, and academic guidance

This work remains central to our mission: ensuring that academic extension is not limited by circumstance, but unlocked by opportunity and support.
